Larnaka & Cyprus Events
Tourism in Larnaka (Larnaca) and to a greater degree in Cyprus is a huge part of the country’s economy, generating over a tenth of the country’s annual income and nearly a third of the island’s jobs. Larnaka Tourism Board together with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation heavily promotes Larnaka as an ideal tourism destination abroad. ‘Cyprus in your heart’ is the latest tourism campaign of the CTO with the aim of promoting Cyprus as ‘an island of contrasts where a visitor can have a variety of experiences throughout the year’.
The island is well set-up to welcome tourism from all around the world, with two brand new Cyprus airports - the main one being the Larnaka (Larnaca) International Airport - having been purpose built in the past few years. There have also been significant changes in the airlines that fly into Cyprus’ airports, with increasing numbers of low cost carriers opening new routes to Larnaka (Larnaca) across Europe, making Cyprus an even more attractive tourism destination.
Most tourism in Cyprus is centred on sun, sea and sand. Many people come simply to unwind, choosing to stay in the high quality hotels and relax on the golden beaches, unaware of the diverse range of events taking place all year round, displaying the Cypriots’ unique sense of fun, creativity and tradition.
